About Michael Nowak
I was born near the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania. amid frequent visits to my grand parents home on the river, my explorations were of the river banks and it's wildlife. This was the catalyst in developing my love for nature. Later as a teenager in high school I received a fine art scholarship to attend the, Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. While in college I developed a great interest for painting in acrylics as the chosen medium of expression. Always in pursuit of inspiration, many subjects captured my interest. My financial earnings continued to center around the arts, part time jobs as a paste up artist, mural painter, and creator of numerous commissioned paintings. Student deferment from the Viet Nam war was not an option, and I signed up for my two years of service.Within a year,I was seriously injured during active combat duty, hastening my return to the United States via Japan. Seeing devastated lives all around me and experiencing my own injuries were experiences that made an indelible mark on me for the rest of my life. Crystallized for me is the preciousness of life; the affirmation that I honor my talent and use it to its fullest . I am dedicated to the artistic expression through painting, and an artist I will always be. " Capturing the beauty and essence of nature in the world that our God has created is the driving force to the soul of my painting." ~Michael J. Nowak ~
